Santolivo is created under the Tuscan sun of the Siena countrysideLuminous landscapes with their unmistakable cypress trees, sunny rolling hills where olive trees and grapevines are always at home... This is the Siena countryside and this is also the Stiglianese hill which looks at Chianciano and from which comes the name of our farm. Here our olives are full of light and sun, here the aromas and tastes of Santolivo are born.

The Stiglianese farm

 

The farm, in the municipality of Chianciano, extends for 21 hectares on the hills that mark the boundary of Valdichiana, the gastronomic heart of Sienese Tuscany, an area internationally famous for its cities of art and its landscapes but also for its DOCG wines (Chianti, Nobile di Montepulciano, Brunello di Montalcino, Vernaccia di San Gimignano), Chianina meat (particularly recommended for Florentine steak) and extra-virgin olive oil, recognized as one of the best in the world. It is here that Santolivo is created.

 

The origin of the farm is uncertain. Its actual expanse of land dates back to the end of the XIX century (when the farm houses were constructed), but it is without doubt older since numerous centuries old trees are found in the olive grove. Divided into two farms which were run on the traditional share cropping system, in the more recent decades the farm has been reunited and has been managed directly by its owners to supply the local market with wine and above all with extra-virgin olive oil.

 

The very favorable location of the land and the quality of the extra-virgin olive oil, noted and appreciated locally, convinced us to buy back the Stiglianese farm in July 2009. Today, together with our cousins Valdo and Lucia Waldergan, owners of the Vignone farm in Montepulciano (Siena), we are giving form and substance to an old common dream which is, starting with olive oil, to create a range of high quality agricultural products typical of the Sienese area where our families have ancient roots.

 

The 'Terre Bracci Waldergan Ronvaux'

 

The name ‘Terre Bracci Waldergan Ronvaux’ expresses the union of our two farms. As the symbol and signature of our products, we have chosen a hand that holds an olive branch, a symbol of peace and love for our land, a symbol which has been in the coat-of-arms of the Bracci family for centuries.

 

A signature that we will put one by one on all our future products as a guarantee of genuine quality. The ‘Terre Bracci Waldergan Ronvaux’ has an annual production capacity which is not particularly high by local standards – 5,000 bottles of DOP extra-virgin olive oil and 40,000 bottles of DOCG, DOC and IGT red wines and Vinsanto – and therefore is ideally suited to guarantee careful, hands-on attention to high quality.
